all is said and done by Tuesday morning. The heaviest of the
rainfall is expected through the evening hours.

* Heavy rain... combined with already saturated soils... will
likely lead to flash flooding in some areas... as already swollen
streams and rivers could rise rapidly and overflow their banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Special Statement

Statement as of 4:58 PM EDT on May 02, 2016

Expires 9:00 PM EDT on May 02, 2016

... Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will affect
Braxton... Nicholas... Webster... Calhoun... Roane... Clay and Fayette
counties...

Locations impacted include...
Summersville... Fayetteville... Spencer... Richwood... Rainelle... Sutton...
Grantsville... Clay... Babcock State Park... Webster Springs... Oak Hill...
Mount Hope... Ansted... Clendenin... Gassaway... Smithers... Addison (webster
springs)... Gauley Bridge... Camden-On-Gauley and Glen.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 79 between mile markers 17 and 81.
West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 53 and 65.

Heavy rainfall is occurring... and may cause localized flooding. Do
not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water on country roads and
farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

The winds started just east of Interstate 64 at the top of
