The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Texas and southeast Texas... including
the following counties... in southeast Texas... Jackson. In
southeast Texas... Austin... Brazoria... Brazos... Burleson...
Chambers... Colorado... Fort Bend... Galveston... Grimes...
Harris... Liberty... Madison... Matagorda... Montgomery... San
Jacinto... Walker... Waller... Washington and Wharton.

* Through this afternoon

* the combination of an upper level storm system and well above
normal moisture levels will set the stage for showers and
thunderstorms. A few of the storms could produce heavy rain.
Rainfall amounts are expected to average between 1 to 3 inches
across the watch area with localized areas expected to receive
between 3 and 5 inches of rainfall. These localized rainfall
amounts when coupled with wet soils from previous rainfall could
lead to flash flooding.

* Street flooding and flooding of low lying areas are the most
likely impacts tonight and Monday. Small streams and bayous
may be impacted during the day on Monday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

central Houston... northwestern Liberty... western Polk... Walker and
north central Harris counties through 745 am CST...

At 628 am CST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 6 miles southeast of Lovelady to near
Huntsville to near Woodloch to greater Inwood. Movement was northeast
at 30 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Conroe, Huntsville, Humble, Tomball, Cleveland, Jersey Village,
Willis, Livingston, Kingwood, Spring Branch north, The Woodlands,
greater greenspoint, Spring, Aldine, Apple Springs, Addicks park ten,
Spring Branch west, northern Eldridge / West Oaks, northwestern
Northside / Northline and Oak Ridge North.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

If on or near Lake Livingston, get out of the water and move indoors
or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
