Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
the Navasota river near Normangee
* until Tuesday afternoon... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 0900 PM Thursday the stage was 19.2 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by early
Tuesday morning... however it will remain above moderate flood levels for next
24 hours.
* At 20.0 feet... major lowland flooding begins with massive inundation of the
flood plain as the river is close to 2 miles wide and osr become inundated one
half mile on the right bank and 1.5 miles on the left bank.

... Significant weather advisory for southeastern Burleson... central
Washington... central Brazos and west central Grimes counties until
345 am CDT...

At 306 am CDT... Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms from
near Brenham to lake Somerville... moving north at 40 mph. These
storms will also merge with other storms moving in from the west.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
College Station... Bryan... Brenham... Somerville... Snook... Millican...
lake Somerville dam... Kyle field... Wellborn... Quarry and
Independence.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm... and may lead
to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

This storm may intensify... so be certain to monitor local radio and
TV stations... as well as local cable TV outlets... for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

To report severe weather... contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
office in League City .

If on or near lake Somerville... get out of the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember... lightning can strike out to
15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder... you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now. Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
