* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in...
southeastern Ector County in West Texas...
extreme southeastern Loving County in West Texas...
southwestern Midland County in West Texas...
Crane County in West Texas...
north central Pecos County in southwest Texas...
western Upton County in West Texas...
Ward County in West Texas...
extreme southwestern Winkler County in West Texas...
extreme east central Reeves County in southwest Texas...

* until 1015 PM CDT

* at 420 PM CDT... multiple secondary roads in the warned area were
experiencing flooding due to heavy rainfall that occurred earlier.
Flooding was reported on Highway 385 between Odessa and McCamey.
A stretch of ranch Road 11 east of Grandfalls was also reportedly
closed. Additional locally heavy rainfall was also occurring across
portions of the warned area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Streams and drainages affected include but are not limited to...
Landreth Draw... Pecos River... Leon creek... Comanche creek and Johnson
Draw.

Most flooding deaths are preventable... and many occur when motorists
drive across flooded roadways. It is never safe to drive on flooded
roads. It takes only a few inches of rapidly flowing water to quickly
carry away your vehicle. Turn around... dont drown.

* until 1015 PM CDT/915 PM MDT/

* at 406 PM CDT... flooding from previous rainfall continued over
southern Eddy County and Lea County in New Mexico into northeast
Culberson County... northern Reeves County... Loving County and
western Ward County. Numerous roads remain closed in southeast
New Mexico as well as Highway 302 west of Kermit.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

The National Weather Service in has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Rio Grande at Johnson Ranch.
* From Monday afternoon until further notice, or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 9am Saturday the stage was 14.3 feet (4.4 meters).
* Flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet (4.6 meters).
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Monday early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 15.6 feet (4.8 meters) by Wednesday early
afternoon.
* Impact... at 15.0 feet (4.6 meters), flood stage is reached.
Moderate lowland flooding begins. Roads that lead to Cottonwood
Campground and River Road may flood. Stages are practically
synonymous with the gage at Cottonwood Campground at Castolon
(cstt2), and therefore represent The Reach from Santa Elena Canyon
through Cottonwood Campground, where damage may occur. Cattle also
graze in The Lowlands, and may be threatened.

This crest compares to a previous crest of 15.1 feet (4.6 meters) on
Jul 22 2013.
