Flood Warning

Statement as of 3:04 AM CDT on May 29, 2015

The Flood Warning continues for
the Red River near Burkburnett.

* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.

* At 2:30 am Friday the stage was 10.8 feet.

* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.

* Forecast... although the Red River is currently falling at
Burkburnett... the river is forecast to begin rising again Saturday
and crest near 11.2 feet mid Sunday morning then begin falling.

* Impact... at 11.0 feet... crop and range lands... oil fields... and
rural roads are affected. Some low-lying areas near the river are
isolated by high water in side channels. Areas along the river near
Davidson Oklahoma begin to flood several hours before the crest
approaches the Burkburnett area. The flood crest reaches the area
along the river near Taylor Oklahoma several hours later. Cattle
and other property should be relocated to places which are 2 feet
higher than nearby river banks to avoid being stranded.

The Flood Warning continues for
the North Fork Red River near Headrick.

* Until late Saturday night... or until the warning is cancelled.

* At 2:00 am Friday the stage was 12.5 feet.

* Minor flooding is forecast.

* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

* Forecast... the North Fork Red River will crest at flood stage
of 14.0 feet late Friday night and fall below flood stage early
Saturday morning.

* Impact... at 14.0 feet... shallow flooding or isolation of
agricultural lands and rural roads occurs in Kiowa... Jackson...
and Tillman counties. Upstream points in Kiowa County may see
flooding several hours before the crest reaches the Headrick area.
The flood crest reaches downstream points near Tipton much later.

* Through Saturday evening

* heavy rainfall will be possible through the day today as
scattered daytime thunderstorms develop across the area. More
widespread heavy rainfall is expected overnight tonight into
Saturday morning as a cold front pushes south across Oklahoma
and North Texas. Locally 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible with
higher amounts.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Monitor weather forecasts and information. Make plans to get to
higher ground if flooding happens.
