Flood Warning

... The Flash Flood Warning will expire at 415 am MDT for west central
Union... southeastern Colfax... northeastern San Miguel... central Quay
and central Harding counties...

National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated that rainfall had
ended across the warned area... and the flash flood threat was
diminishing. However... very heavy rain during the overnight hours
will result in continued runoffs. Some locations... especially low
water crossings... could still be impacted by running water or
debris. The threat for flash flooding is ending for the early
morning hours and the Flash Flood Warning has been allowed to expire.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from noon MDT today through late

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for much of northeast New Mexico from the
Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the northeast plains as well the
San Juan and Jemez Mountains... the Southwest Mountains and the
south central mountains with a focus on burn scars.

* From noon MDT today through late tonight

* the combination of widespread... slow moving thunderstorms and
saturated surfaces will support the threat of flash flooding
across the northeast quarter of New Mexico and areas in and near
the high terrain of northern... western and south central New

* Much of the northeast plains received heavy rain on Sunday and
Sunday night and this area will see quick responses to any heavy
rain today. Additionally... steep terrain and especially burn
scars will be particularly susceptible to flash flooding. Areas
near arroyos... small streams and creeks are also favored for
flash flooding. Monitor the latest forecasts closely and be
prepared to take immediate action if a warning or advisory is

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.
