... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 515 PM MDT for
north central Santa Fe and southeastern Rio Arriba counties...

At 405 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms are moving away from the area and the heaviest rain is
ending over the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain has
been indicated along Highway 76 between Espanola and Chimayo... and
over County roads around Sombrillo... La Puebla... and La Mesilla.

Locations impacted include...
Espanola... Chimayo... Pojoaque... Santa Cruz... Rio Chiquito... Nambe
Lake... Santa Clara Pueblo... cuartelez... Cundiyo and Pojoaque Pueblo.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northeastern Santa Fe County in north central New Mexico...
southeastern Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico...

* until 445 PM MDT

* at 244 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms between Espanola... Santa
Cruz... Chimayo and Cundiyo. This storm was producing rainfall
rates in excess of one inch per hour. Minor flooding is likely
along Highway 76. High water flows are also likely in the Santa
Cruz river.

* Locations impacted include...
Espanola... Chimayo... Pojoaque... Santa Cruz... Rio Chiquito... Nambe
Lake... Santa Clara Pueblo... cuartelez... Cundiyo and Pojoaque
Pueblo.

Other locations affected include Borrego Mesa campground and Santa
Cruz Lake Recreation Area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northeastern Torrance County in central New Mexico...

* until 430 PM MDT

* at 235 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms southeast of Clines Corners. Up to
one inch of rain has already fallen in the last hour. The storm
producing the heavy rainfall was moving slowly eastward down the
Pintada Arroyo drainage. Minor flooding is expected along County
roads 36... 46 and 48. Ponding of water is also possible along
Highway 3. This also includes Highway 285 between mile markers 230
and 238.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... ditches are deadly. A gentle flow of water can become a
raging torrent in a matter of minutes.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include a portion of north and central nm...
including the following areas... Estancia valley... Jemez
Mountains... lower Chama River Valley... lower Rio Grande Valley...
middle Rio Grande Valley/Albuquerque Metro area... northwest
Highlands... San Juan Mountains... Sandia/Manzano Mountains...
Santa Fe Metro area... south Central Highlands... south central
mountains... Southwest Mountains... upper Rio Grande Valley... west
Central Highlands and west central mountains.

* From 2 PM MDT this afternoon through late tonight

* a back door cold front moving into the area will provide focus
for numerous showers and thunderstorms this afternoon through
the overnight. Due to a very moist and unstable atmosphere in
place... any storm will be capable of very heavy rain. Slow
moving or training storms will exacerbate the flash flooding
threat. One to two inches of rain is likely... with locally
higher amounts possible.

* Burn scar areas and very steep terrain... locations that have
received recent heavy rainfall... and urban drainages will be the
most susceptible to flash flooding if heavy rainfall develops.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.
