... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of north and central New Mexico... including the
following areas... east slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains... far
northeast Highlands... Harding County... northeast Highlands...
northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains above 9500 feet/Red River...
Raton ridge/Johnson Mesa... southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains
above 9500 feet and Union County.

* Until 9 PM MDT this evening

* thunderstorms are expected to have a tendency to train or
repeatedly move over the same areas of northeastern New Mexico
this afternoon and this evening. This could lead to locally
heavy rainfall and the potential for flash flooding.

* Locations where the ground is already saturated from recent
rainfall will be favored for flash flooding. Other vulnerable
locations will include steep terrain... as well as urban areas and
burn scars. Keep a watchful eye on arroyos and small streams...
and stay out of flooded low water crossings. Monitor the latest
forecasts closely and be prepared to take immediate action if a
warning or advisory is issued.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.
