The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
northwestern Culberson County in southwest Texas...
extreme west central Lea County in southeast New Mexico...
northwestern Eddy County in southeast New Mexico...

* until 245 am MDT Monday/345 am CDT Monday/

* at 839 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated rainfall intensity
decreasing across northwestern Eddy County. However... due
to heavier rainfall from earlier in the day Sunday... flooding
is expected to continue across northwestern Eddy County
including Artesia. At 839 PM MDT heavy rainfall continued
across northwestern Culberson County near Pine Springs and
The Bowl and flooding is likely to continue.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Flash flooding of creeks and streams... streets and underpasses... low
water crossings... and low lying farmland is likely. Do not drive
across flooded roads.

* until 100 am MDT

* at 703 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar detected
areas of light to moderate rain across the southern half of Lea
County. Due to heavier rainfall from earlier in the day Sunday...
flooding is expected to continue across southern Lea County...
especially across secondary and rural roads.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southeast New Mexico and Texas... including the
following areas... in southeast New Mexico... central Lea
County... Eddy County plains... Guadalupe Mountains of Eddy
County... northern Lea County and southern Lea County. In
Texas... Andrews... Borden... Crane... Davis/Apache Mountains
area... Dawson... Ector... Gaines... Glasscock... Guadalupe
Mountains... Howard... Loving... Martin... Midland... Mitchell...
Pecos... Reagan... Reeves County and upper trans Pecos...
Scurry... Upton... Van Horn and Highway 54 corridor... Ward and
Winkler.

* Through Monday morning

* an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible in the watch
area today... with isolated amounts of 3 to 5 inches possible...
particularly in southeast New Mexico as well as the central and
northern Permian Basin.

* Flooding of rivers... creeks... arroyos... low water crossings
and city streets will be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
With saturated soils... runoff can cause flash flooding quickly.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
