* Flood Warning for...
Barry County in southwest Missouri...
Christian County in southwest Missouri...
northwestern Taney County in southwest Missouri...
southeastern McDonald County in southwest Missouri...
Stone County in southwest Missouri...

* until 500 am CDT Wednesday.

* At 634 PM CDT... the Department of Transportation indicated
widespread flooding of low lying areas and roadways due to
excessive rainfall earlier today. Addtional rainfall is expected
overnight tonight... potentially causing small
streams... creeks... and river to rise again. This Flood Warning
replaces the previous Flash Flood Warning.

* Runoff from this rain is causing flooding. Locations in the warning
include... big Sugar Creek State Park... Branson West... Branson...
Cassville... Crane... Exeter... Galena... Highlandville... Hollister...
Indian Point... Kimberling City... Lanagan... Merriam Woods... Noel...
Ozark... Pineville... Reeds Spring... Roaring River State Park...
Rockaway Beach... Seligman... South West City... Sparta... Table Rock
State Park and Washburn. Creeks... streams and low water crossings
will be especially susceptible to the dangers of flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...

Highway 13 at railey creek near Reeds Spring...
Highway 13 at Pine Run northwest of Galena...
Route u at pedelo creek northeast of Sparta...
Route y at Flat Creek just northeast of Cassville...
Route c just south of McDowell.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It only takes a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

The National Weather Service in Springfield has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Ozark County in southwest Missouri...
southern Stone County in southwest Missouri...
Taney County in southwest Missouri...

* until 1000 PM CDT.

* At 325 PM CDT... local law enforcement officials reported that
excessive rainfall from earlier today was producing flash flooding
across the warned area. Additional rainfall is expected this
evening and tonight... therefore... future rises in stream levels
are possible later tonight. The flash flood emergency for stone
and western Taney counties will be allowed to expire at 4 PM.
However... the Flash Flood Warning will continue until 10 PM.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to
occur. Locations in the warning include... Forsyth... Gainesville and
Taneyville. Creeks... streams and low water crossings will be
especially susceptible to the dangers of flash flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...

Route W at Caney Creek just east of Brownbranch...
Highway 181 at Bryant creek northeast of Sycamore...
Route T at Lick Creek 6 miles south of Gainesville...
Highway 95 at Bryant creek just east of Rockbridge...
Highway 76 at Beaver Creek southwest of Bradleyville.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri... including the
following areas... in southeast Kansas... Bourbon... Cherokee
and Crawford. In Missouri... Barry... Barton... Benton...
Camden... Cedar... Christian... Dade... Dallas... Dent... Douglas...
Greene... Hickory... Howell... Jasper... Laclede... Lawrence...
Maries... McDonald... Miller... Morgan... Newton... Oregon...
Ozark... Phelps... Polk... Pulaski... Shannon... St. Clair...
stone... Taney... Texas... Vernon... Webster and Wright.

* Through Wednesday evening

* showers will continue at times this evening resulting in light
to moderate rainfall. The coverage and intensity of showers and
thunderstorms with torrential rainfall will increase late
tonight into Wednesday morning. Additional rain will continue
through the day Wednesday.

Additional rainfall amounts through Wednesday of two and four
inches are expected... with locally higher amounts around 5
inches possible.

* This excessive rainfall will lead to flash flooding of
streams... flood prone areas... and low water crossings. Flooding
of larger rivers will also occur.

Areas that normally do not flood may experience flooding.

Areas that have already experienced flooding may see additional
flash flooding.

Those camping or floating along area streams and rivers should be
alert for rising water levels... and avoid flooded areas.

Rivers impacted by flooding include the Osage... Marmaton... Spring
... Elk... James... and Gasconade.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
