Wind Chill Advisory

... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 6 PM this evening to 9 am
EST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Wind
Chill Advisory... which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to
9 am EST Sunday.

* Locations... Maryland's Eastern Shore as well as southern Delaware.

* Wind chill... as low as 10 degrees below zero

* timing... wind chills will begin to drop to dangerous levels
through today with the coldest values between midnight and
sunrise Sunday. Wind chills will slowly ease by late Sunday
morning.

* Impacts... wind chill values reaching dangerous levels. The very
low wind chills have the potential to result in hypothermia if
care is not taken to stay warm and sheltered.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.

Advisory... which is in effect until 6 PM EST this evening.

* Locations... eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey.

* Winds... northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph.

* Timing... winds will increase behind an Arctic cold front this
morning and continue through the afternoon.

* Impacts... a possibility of a few broken tree limbs and
associated power outages. Driving will be difficult at times...
especially for high profile vehicles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that very windy conditions are expected.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for
high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Light-weight outdoor
objects such as patio furniture and garbage cans should be
secured.

counties...

* At 500 am EST... a heavy snow squall was along a line extending
from near Sudlersville to near Wye Mills to near Romancoke... and
moving southeast at 40 mph.

This snow squall will be near...
Greensboro... Goldsboro and Skipton around 510 am EST.
Oakland... Ridgely... St. Michaels... Queen Anne... Sandtown... Cordova
and Jumptown around 515 am EST.
Griffin... Copperville and Matthews around 520 am EST.
Easton... Denton and Harmony around 525 am EST.
Harrington and Andrewsville around 530 am EST.
Tanyard... Agner and Hambleton around 535 am EST.
Smithville and Windyhill around 540 am EST.
Milford and Preston around 545 am EST.

Other locations impacted by this dangerous squall include
Greenwood... Hillsboro... Farmington... Houston and Henderson.

The snow squall will contain heavy snow that will last for a brief
period of time. This will result in rapid changes in the visibility.
In addition, gusty northwest winds will also accompany the squall.

Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this dangerous
snow squall. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads
are likely to lead to accidents. Consider delaying travel until the
squall passes your location.

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.
