Winter Storm Watch

Statement as of 4:48 AM EST on February 07, 2016

Expires 7:00 AM EST on February 09, 2016

... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Monday morning
through Tuesday morning...

* locations... southeast Massachusetts including Cape Cod and the
islands. This includes the cities and towns of Brockton...
Plymouth... Mattapoisett... Chatham... Falmouth and Provincetown.

* Hazard types... snow.

* Accumulations... there is the potential for 6 to locally 10
inches of snow across the watch area Monday and Monday night.

* Uncertainty... the amount of ocean-effect enhanced snow banding
remains uncertain. In addition... a slight westward shift in the
track of an ocean storm could increase amounts while a track
farther east could reduce amounts.

* Timing... snow overspreads the watch area late tonight toward
daybreak and continues into Monday night.

* Impacts... anyone traveling in the next 24 to 36 hours should
monitor later forecasts and be prepared to modify travel plans.

* Winds... northeast 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* Visibilities... may be reduced at times to one-half mile or less.
Occasional white-out conditions are possible with near zero
visibility.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch is issued for the potential of accumulating
snow of 6 or more inches in a 12 hour period... or 8 or more
inches in a 24 hour period. Anyone traveling in the next 24 to
36 hours should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to modify
travel plans should winter weather develop.

Coastal Flood Watch

Statement as of 5:37 AM EST on February 07, 2016

Expires 1:00 PM EST on February 08, 2016

... Coastal Flood Watch remains in effect for Monday morning and
midday...

* location... eastern Massachusetts coastline from Plymouth south through Cape
Cod including Nantucket.

* Coastal flooding... areas of moderate coastal flooding are
possible. Moderate coastal flooding produces widespread flooding
of vulnerable shore roads and/or basements due to the height of
storm tide and/or wave action. Numerous Road closures may be
needed. Lives may be at risk for people who put themselves in
harms way. Isolated structural damage may be observed.

* Timing... the late Monday morning to midday high tide cycle.

* Impacts... a coastal Flood Watch means that the potential exists for moderate
coastal flooding.

* Uncertainty... if the ocean storm tracks closer to the coast this watch may
need to be expanded northward.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Watch means that the potential exists for moderate or major
coastal flooding. Moderate coastal flooding produces widespread flooding of
vulnerable shore roads and/or basements due to the height of storm tide and/or
wave action. Numerous Road closures may be needed. Lives may be
at risk for people who put themselves in harms way. Isolated
structural damage may be observed.

Major coastal flooding is considered severe enough to cause at least scattered
structural damage along with widespread flooding of vulnerable shore roads
and/or basements. Some vulnerable homes will be severely damaged or destroyed.
Numerous roads are impassable... some with washouts severe enough to be life-
threatening if one attempted to cross on foot or by vehicle. Some neighborhoods
will be isolated. Evacuation of some neighborhoods may be necessary.
