The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Montgomery County in southeast Kansas...

* until 945 am CDT.

* At 348 am CDT... thunderstorms with torrential rain have occurred
over the warned area and additional heavy rain is expected.

Radar and observations indicate 4 to 6 inches of rain has already
occurred over the southern half of the County. The heaviest rain has
fallen between Coffeyville and Independence... not far from Liberty
and Bolton. Thunderstorms will likely continue through daybreak with
another 1 to 2 inches of rain likely. Street flooding has already
been reported in both Coffeyville and Independence.


* Locations within the warning include...
Bolton... Caney... Cherryvale... Coffeyville... Coffeyville Airport...
Dearing... Elk City... Havana... Independence Airport...
Independence... Liberty... Tyro.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of urban
areas... highways and underpasses. Additionally... rural country roads
and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low lying
areas are subject to flooding.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flash flooding is observed act quickly. Move
up to higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas
subject to flooding when water begins rising.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office in
Wichita.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Montgomery County in southeast Kansas...

* until 115 PM CDT Tuesday

* at 116 am CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned area.

Doppler radar estimated between 1 to 4 inches of rain have fallen
across the area... with additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2
inches possible. Coffeyville Municipal Airport reported over 2
inches of rain has fallen since 7 PM Monday evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of urban
areas... highways and underpasses. Additionally... rural country roads

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of southeast Kansas... including the following
areas... Chautauqua... Elk... Labette... Montgomery... Neosho and
Wilson

* until 11 am CDT this morning.

* Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will continue through the
morning hours across portions of southeast Kansas. Heavy rain
will be likely with the more intense storms which will likely
exacerbate ongoing flooding.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Remember to turn around... don't drown.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
