Winter Storm Warning

Statement as of 2:51 PM MDT on April 25, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from midnight tonight to 9 am
MDT Monday above 9000 feet...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a
Winter Storm Warning above 9000 feet for heavy snow... which is in
effect from midnight tonight to 9 am MDT Monday. The Winter Storm
Watch is no longer in effect.

* Locations include the cities of... Skyway... Taylor Park...
Telluride... Silverton... Rico.

* Timing... snowfall will become widespread after midnight tonight
with periods of snow and snow showers through Sunday afternoon before
decreasing Sunday night.

* Snow accumulation... 5 to 10 inches. Lesser accumulations below
9000 feet.

* Snow level... snowfall is expected down to about 8000 feet at
times... but the best accumulations will remain above 9000 feet.

* Winds... southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph at mountaintop level
will shift to the northeast and north Sunday afternoon and
night.

* Visibility... reduced to less than one mile at times.

* Impacts... roads over the higher mountain passes... including
Red Mountain and Lizard Head passes... may be slushy or snow
covered at times... resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds and blowing snow are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
