... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Friday afternoon through
Friday evening...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southwest Colorado and
southeast Utah... including the following areas... in
Colorado... Four Corners/upper Dolores River... Paradox
Valley/lower Dolores River and Uncompahgre Plateau and Dallas
Divide. In Utah... arches/Grand Flat... canyonlands/Natural
Bridges... La Sal and Abajo Mountains and southeast Utah.

* From Friday afternoon through Friday evening

* scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop
Friday afternoon and continue Friday evening... as a result of
abundant subtropical moisture and a upper level disturbance.
Some storms could produce heavy rainfall.

* Normally dry washes... small streams... slot canyons... arroyos...
and burn scars will be most prone to flash flooding. Some
locations in southeast Utah and southwest Colorado have already
received significant rain during the past couple of days and any
additional rainfall could run off rapidly.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
