Flash Flood Warning

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 545 PM PDT for
the mountains in northwestern Los Angeles and northeastern
Ventura counties...

At 335 PM PDT... Doppler radar continued to indicate a cluster of
strong thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall across northwest
Los Angeles County and northeast Ventura County. Flash flooding will
continue to impact the warning area through 545 PM... including
Interstate 5 and Highway 138. The heaviest rainfall between 240 and
340 PM has occurred along Interstate 5 near Pyramid Lake and Castaic
lake... where Doppler radar has estimated over 2 inches per hour.

Excessive rainfall over the warned area will cause mud and rock
slides near steep terrain... potentially impacting portions of
Interstate 5 and Highway 138.

Some locations that will experience flooding include... Gorman...
Pyramid Lake... Castaic lake... Interstate 5... and Highway 138
near Quail Lake.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 430 PM PDT for
north central Los Angeles County...

At 319 PM PDT... Doppler radar continued to indicate thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Local gages show
rainfall totals up to one and one quarter inches of rain... and
Doppler radar esimates up to two inches of rain over Highway 14 west
of Acton. California Highway patrol has reported heavy mud and
flooding on Highway 14 between Escondido and red Rover mine Road.

Some locations that will experience flooding if they have not
already include... Acton... Santa Clarita... Highway 14 and the
powerhouse burn area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 445 PM PDT for
northwestern Los Angeles and north central Ventura counties...

At 321 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms continue
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Doppler radar-estimated
rainfall indicates rain amounts up to one and a half inches with up
to one and a half inches per hour rain rates. The heaviest cell is
currently over far northeast Ventura County... about 10 miles east of
Lockwood Valley.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
northeastern Los Angeles County in southwestern California...

* until 615 PM PDT

* at 310 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to
begin shortly if not already occurring. These thunderstorms are
capable of producing dangerous cloud to ground lightning... strong
gusty winds and small hail. Large hail may also occur.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wrightwood... Llano... Pearblossom... and Big Pines. The Pine burn
area may also be affected... producing dangerous debris flows.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move away from recently burned areas. The heavy rains will likely
trigger Rockslides... mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain... especially in and around these areas.

The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northern Los Angeles County in southwestern California...

* until 430 PM PDT

* at 129 PM PDT... Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. These storms are moving to the
northwest at 10 to 15 mph so flash flooding is not expected at
this time. However minor flooding of low lying areas... especially
near recent burn areas and below dry washes... will be possible
through late this afternoon. Minor flooding of low lying roads in
urban areas will be likely. These thunderstorms will also be
capable of producing dangerous cloud to ground lightning... strong
gusty winds and small hail.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Palmdale...
Lake Los Angeles... Pearblossom... Lake Palmdale... Lake Hughes...
Acton... Canyon country and Santa Clarita.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* the Antelope Valley and the Los Angeles County mountains
excluding the Santa Monica range.

* Through this evening

* rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour or greater are possible
with some storms.

* Impacts... heavy rain could lead to flash flooding... mud and
debris flows... and . Roads could be closed due to water flowing
over them as well as mud and rocks washing onto them. The recent
pines burn area will be at risk for mud and debris flows if
heavy rain occurs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Anyone traveling into or through the watch area today and early
tonight should check the latest National Weather Service
statements and possible warning. Also... check the latest Road
conditions.
