Winter Storm Warning

Statement as of 2:01 PM PST on January 22, 2017

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM PST Monday...

* snow levels... rising to 7000 feet by late afternoon... then
falling to around 5000 feet late tonight... and 4500 feet on
Monday...

* winds... areas of southwest winds strengthening to 25 to 35 mph
with gusts to 65 mph this afternoon through early
evening... becoming southwest to west tonight and Monday.
Damaging gusts to 80 mph near Mountain Ridge tops and along
desert slopes through early evening.

* Snow... becoming heavy at times mid afternoon through early
evening... with snow showers continuing Monday.

* Snow accumulations... 2 inches of more above 4000 feet... with 10
to 20 inches above 6000 feet... and locally 2 feet or more above
7000 feet.

* Visibility... near zero at times in snow... blowing snow... and
fog.

* Impacts... travel will be dangerous at times over the mountains
due to snow covered roads... strong winds and low visibility.
Dangerous cross winds expected for high profile vehicles.
Winds may cause structural damage and knock down trees and
power lines.

* Outlook... snow showers will continue at times for Monday night
and Tuesday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.





Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Orange County in southwestern California...
San Bernardino County in Southern California...
Riverside County in Southern California...

* until 530 PM PST

* at 230 PM PST, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
widespread heavy rain across the warned area of Orange County and
the entire inland Empire. Flash flooding will likely begin shortly.

Rainfall rates of 0.50 to 0.75 inches per hour will occur through 5 PM.
Saturated soils will result in rapid intense Urban and Small Stream
flooding which will be dangerous to vehicles and threaten properties in
low lying areas. There is also a good possibility of debris flows and
land slides.

The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose
materials.

* Some locations that will likely experience flooding include...
Anaheim, Santa Ana, Riverside, Irvine, San Bernardino, Fontana,
Moreno Valley, Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Ontario, Corona,
Orange, Fullerton, Costa Mesa and Temecula.

Excessive rainfall over The Blue Cut burn scar will likely result in
debris flow moving through the Cajon drainage. The debris flow can consist
of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Have a plan to move to higher ground. Act quickly to protect your life.
Water is deeper than it appears on roadways and will be moving swiftly.
When flooded turn around dont drown.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of southwest California... including the following
areas... apple and Lucerne valleys... Orange County coastal
areas... Orange County inland areas... Riverside County
mountains... San Bernardino County mountains... San Bernardino
and Riverside County valleys-the inland Empire... San Gorgonio
Pass near Banning and Santa Ana Mountains and foothills.

* Through Monday evening

* heavy rain will occur at times through early evening... mainly
below 6500 feet. Periods of showers... some with heavy rainfall
will follow for tonight through Monday... mainly below 4500
feet. Rainfall rates could locally reach or exceed one inch per
hour. This will bring a risk of flash flooding. Heavy rains over
recent burn scars could result in debris flows and mud slides.
In the mountains... a warmer air mass this afternoon will result
in rising snow levels and melting of snow below 6500 feet which
will increase the risk of flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Orange County in southwestern California...
San Bernardino County in Southern California...
Riverside County in Southern California...

* until 615 PM PST Sunday

* at 1209 PM PST, Doppler radar indicated moderate showers moving
into Orange County, the inland Empire, and lower slopes of the San
Bernardino County mountains. Rainfall intensity should steadily
increase over the afternoon hours, likely leading to Urban and
Small Stream flooding. In addition, minor Rockslides are likely to
occur in the mountains.

* Some locations that will likely experience flooding include...
Anaheim, Santa Ana, Riverside, Irvine, San Bernardino, Fontana,
Moreno Valley, Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Ontario, Corona,
Orange, Fullerton, Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass, Costa Mesa and
Rialto.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

seas continuing through Monday night.

* Outlook... winds will diminish on Tuesday... but seas may not
lower below 10 feet until late Tuesday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
