Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
the Fourche Lafave river near Houston.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:30 PM Friday the stage was 33.2 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will remain near 33.1 feet through Saturday.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet... roads around Harris Brake Lake are flooded.
Flooding extends from Arkansas River upstream of Harris Brake.

... Flood Warning extended until further notice... the Flood Warning
continues for
the Arkansas River at Toad Suck lock and dam tailwater.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* There is no current observed data. Estimated stage was 280 feet at 12:00 PM.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 280.0 feet later today.
Flows are estimated to be well over 300,000 cfs and are expected to remain
high through the remainder of the week.
* Impacts at 279.0 feet... more farmland in Perry County flooded from backwaters
up the Fourche La Fave river. Parking lot of The Lock and dam flooded and
water over lock walls.
* Impacts at 280.0 feet... portions of the Treasure hills subdivision north
of Conway may be flooded from backwaters of east Cadron creek. Several roads
west of Mayflower including Jones Lane, easterwood point, Sand Gap, Raney
Pavillion, and Windsong way will be inundated.
* This flood crest is forecasted to be comparable to the flood of March 2008
when the river crested around 278.80 feet.

* Flood stage is 275.0 feet.
* Impact... at 280.0 feet... portions of the Treasure hills subdivision
north of Conway may be flooded from backwaters of east Cadron
creek. Several roads west of Mayflower including Jones Lane,
easterwood point, Sand Gap, Raney Pavillion, and Windsong way
will be inundated.

* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:15 PM Friday the stage was 38.1 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 39.2 feet by
Tuesday evening.
* Impacts at 38.0 feet... backwaters up point remove creek have
flooded many acres of cropland.

Arkansas... Baxter... Boone... Cleburne... Fulton...
Independence... Izard... Marion... Newton... Searcy... sharp...
stone and Van Buren. In southeast Arkansas... Cleveland and
Jefferson. In southwest Arkansas... Calhoun... Clark... Dallas...
Hot Spring... Ouachita and Pike. In western Arkansas...

* Through this evening

* rainfall will continue over the region today as a cold front
approaches. While rainfall amounts will be less than previous
days... any rainfall has the potential to bring flash flooding
due to the already saturated ground.

* In addition... area rivers and streams are already flooding or
near bank full. Any additional rainfall will not be able to
drain into waterways... increasing the threat for flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
